Afra  > Trips > 2008 > Paris, Melun - 09/(10-18)/08
On my third visit, I finally get to go to the Louvre and see the Versailles. On a quick visit to Laure's parents' in Melun, I also saw the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte on which Versailles and Schönbrunn were modeled, among others. It also has a fantastic story.

Afra > Here, we are walking around the grand canal. The chestnut trees seemed to be sick, as all the leaves were dry. It turns out 'white' chestnut trees in and around Paris are suffering from a parasite from Asia, the cameraria ohridella. Gardeners are replacing by the disease-resistant 'red' chestnut trees.
